What is going on with Yeezy?
A decade-long partnership means nothing to Adidas who has ended their partnership with Kanye West following the recent series of out bursts many have deemed “Anti Semitic”
Tuesday (Oct 25), the brand the made an official declaration that they’ve ended their partnership with Yeezy costing them around $246 million dollars.
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness. After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”
Only a few hours later, Gap removed Kanye’s Yeezy products from retailers. Also shutting down YeezyGap.com, which currently redirects to Gap’s homepage. And shortly after that, another announcement, this time from Forbes stating that Kanye is no longer a billionaire.
And that is not all. The bandwagon cancellation continued as, Balenciaga, the talent agency CAA, and Def Jam Records have all decided to cut ties with Kanye West because of the events currently unfolding.
All of this sparking from something that took place during Paris Fashion Week, where Kanye West wore a shirt with the slogan “White Lives Matter” at his Yeezy Season 9 show. What was he thinking? Did he fly to close to the sun? Or was all this a part of a plan? Only time will tell.
