INTERVIEW GUIDELINES

Thank you so much for joining our team and taking on the interviewer responsibility! Interviews are the backbone of the company. It not only promotes the artists we are covering, but it also helps generate a large percentage of our website traffic. So again thank you.

The following guidelines and materials should help making the interview process a breeze. If you have any questions feel free to use the forms or message me or someone on the team directly. Don’t be afraid. We want to keep our content 100% so no questions are dumb questions.

Where do intervews take place?

Written interviews generally take place via messages on facebook, twitter, or any platform that lets you access the messages from a desktop computer. Its important that you do not do interviews via instagram because you will not be able to easily access your dms in order to copy and paste the answers onto the website.

What kind of questions should I ask?

Questions that matter! Don’t ask vague questions like “What is your favorite color?”. Ask questions that help promote the artist and their activities. Ask about their origin story. Who their influences are. What inspires them. What their plans are. Things like that. Feel free to use ANY of my questions from past interviews. IDGAF as a matter of fact feel free to refer to this page at any time and use any or all of the following questions during your interview. ALL INTERVIEWS MUST BE 10 QUESTIONS LONG OR MORE!

  • “Thank you for taking some time to be interviewed, can you please introduce your self to our readers and tell us a little bit about what you do?”
  • How long have you been making music?
  • What inspired you to be a musician?
  • Who gets bragging rights for getting you to where you are now?
  • What is your dream tour?
  • Who are your major influences?
  • When is your new album [Title Here] coming out?
  • When does the music video for [Title Here] drop?
  • What are your plans for next year?
  • Where do you see your self in 5 years?
  • What are the pros and cons of your local music scene?
  • What obstacles did you have to overcome in your journey?

Try not to ask pre-meditated questions back to back. Instead bounce off their answers with new questions that relate. Here is an example….

What are your plans for next year?

Next year i’m dropping my full length album “Bitch Don’t Call My Phone” sometime in July.

Do you have any big features on the album? Who can we expect to hear?

Notice how questions are bold and answers are not. This helps prevent the reader from getting confused or loosing their place. And it looks great.

Before publishing!

Now that you have your questions and answers there are a few more things you need to do before your article is published.

  1. Copy and paste the Interview onto a post.
  2. Select “Interviews” from the category menu on the sidebar to the right.
  3. Add a “featured image” with the sidebar to the right. (high resolution)
  4.  Embed their soundcloud or spotify player at the bottom of the article to help run up the numbers!
  5. HAVE SOMEONE ELSE FROM THE TEAM LOOK OVER AND EDIT YOUR POST. Spell check and grammar fixes need to come from a 2nd source. I know @switchblade would not mind editing.
  6. Once you have the post reviewed by another team member, go ahead and publish it!

This site is brand new. So our stats are low. Lets push content on our socials as much as possible so we can collectively get this number up. Once we are getting thousands of hits per day, we can start monetizing and talking about percentages and pay for content! But we need to work hard to get to that point! JUST KEEP PUSHING
